Transcollines On Demande [TOD] in the Pontiac

A new on-demand service was launched in October 2022 for anybody who needs to travel in and out of the Hills. TOD:

  • Works via an app that offers several virtual routes and stops based on your departure and arrival points.
  • It’s a service that works with booking and is offered at the same rates as regular public transport.
  • It is possible to book one or more trips from 2 hours up to 30 days in advance.
  • The path taken by the taxi and bus vehicles is not a fixed route and will adapt to your needs and to other transit users who may have booked a trip in the same direction around the same time.

The on-demand service is currently serving La Pêche, Cantley, Chelsea and Val-des-Monts sectors and will gradually expand to other Outaouais rural areas and we would like to know the interest of the travellers in the Pontiac for this type of service.

Offer regular fixed line service + on-demand service

To better serve the users in the northern portion of the territory, we propose to offer a 100% on-demand service and to maintain the 910 fixed line only from Campbell's Bay.

Precisions from the moderator

Once the new service will fully integrated, the planning team will keep an eye on the moving patterns created by the on-demand service and will reinstate fixed routes when ridership justifies it.

Service area

Here are the proposed stops for the on-demand service on the Pontiac territory (see map below). Would the proposed sectors and stops meet your transportation needs?

Precisions from the moderator

The territory served by Transcollines on demand currently covers La Pêche, Cantley, Chelsea and Val-des-Monts areas. The departure or the arrival points of the desired route must be in these areas to use to the service. A few stops are also available in the Gatineau, Hull and Aylmer sectors, an area that is mainly served by the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO).

Transcollines on demand will gradually expand to other rural areas of the Outaouais depending on demand and in accordance with local priorities.

Offer on demand service in the Pontiac

Transcollines is in discussion with the municipality and the MRC Pontiac to develop its public transit service in the region. Do you think that on-demand service with a flexible schedules and routes that works with booking would be useful in the Pontiac region?
